The Sky’s The Limit In Coventry

26 Feb 2015

APCOA PARKING (UK) fittingly re-coined the phrase ‘The Sky’s The Limit’, after its Skydome multi-storey car park in Coventry was awarded the Park Mark Safer Parking Award.

The Award is quite a feat for the Skydome, which, under APCOA’s watch, and landlord investment, has been transformed to ensure it creates the right impression and, importantly, meets the necessary criteria to receive the national accreditation.

The Croft Road facility, which comprises 780 car parking provisions across 18 levels, received a one-year Park Mark award after assessment by the police and British Parking Association. The award recognises APCOA’s management of the car park, the investment of a new CCTV system, and the repainting of the stairwells.

Skydome parking attendants were also considered to be well-drilled in health and safety and security operations, and demonstrated competencies in customer care and information sharing to ensure the smooth and efficient running of the car park. Attendants are also trained annually in first aid, conflict management and incident reporting.

APCOA is now looking to upgrade the lighting and signage in-line with the assessor’s management practice recommendations. During this time, attendants will also maintain a close working relationship with local uniformed officers to proactively prevent crime.

Michael Gardner, Safer Parking Scheme area manager, said: “This Park Mark Award has been deservedly achieved by APCOA, and management team at the Skydome, and is testament to the hard work and determination by Chris Vaughan and his colleagues to maintain the standards required”.

“The Safer Parking Scheme celebrated its 10th anniversary in 2014. Reaching this landmark birthday is due to organisations being committed to achieving high standards, and it shows they care about their customers’ experiences.”
